British children’s vehicle maker Young Driver Motor Cars presents the Firefly Sport, a small 2.1-meter-long electric convertible aimed primarily at children aged 4 to 10. But adults, if they wish, can still take the wheel of the machine.
Entirely made in the United Kingdom, the Firefly Sport is therefore the first 100% British electric model. It rests squarely on an aluminum chassis associated with an independent suspension. Young Driver Motor Cars says it wants to give kids « a taste » of driving a real car.

The look, too, is similar to that of a real sports car. This little red convertible adopts a plunging hood that ends in LED headlights. The rear is more impressive with speedster-like embossing, model name lettering and LED lights as well. With such a machine in hand, there is clearly something to show off around the block.

Equipped with 12V batteries that can be recharged using solar energy and two 24V electric motors, the Firefly Sport is capable of accelerating to just over 40 km/h. For younger drivers, this maximum speed can be limited to around 11 km/h. The ignition can be switched off from a distance of up to 200 meters, and it switches off automatically when an obstacle is detected.

On board, the young driver – or female driver – has an odometer, a clock and a remaining range indicator. It can also use a reversing camera as well as indicators. A touch pad support also seems to be present.
The price of the Firefly Sport is not communicated at the time of writing these lines. This small electric sports car can in any case be tested before being purchased, by booking a test via the Young Driver Motor Cars website.
